Commissioning is where a guest room control project succeeds or fails. A disciplined checklist - addressing, scene verification, GRMS linkage and signed room-by-room acceptance - prevents the late-night troubleshooting that burns project margin.
Pre-commissioning
- Confirm bus topology and terminations (KNX line, RS-485 bias, or BLE Mesh gateway placement).
- Verify power and earthing at each RCU and panel.
- Load the correct room-type configuration, not a generic template.
Per-room verification
- Each switch, sensor and load responds to its address.
- Scenes (welcome, leave, sleep, cleaning) behave as specified.
- Card-power, DND/MUR and thermostat setback trigger correctly.
System linkage and acceptance
Test GRMS/PMS events end to end: check-in scene, room-status updates, fault alarms. Then sign off room by room against a matrix, so every room is documented before handover.
- What is the most skipped step?
- Room-by-room acceptance against a matrix. Skipping it hides one misaddressed room that later becomes a guest complaint.
- How long does commissioning take per room?
- A well-prepared room type commissions in minutes once the template is proven; the first room of each type takes longest.
- Should scenes be tested with the PMS?
- Yes for at least one room per type, to confirm the integration path before scaling.
